Sky Bed Camp & Jungle Expedition 5 days / 4 nights.
Sky Bed Camp It’s equipped with basic services and comfy bedrooms, private cabins for two people and families of four, glass roof with 360° views to the starry sky, shared bathroom and shower. Also run by Fidel’s family. It is a little treasure hidden in the Amazon jungle, located on the Rio Negro in the depths of Manu biosphere reserve, far away from the classic tourist activity. You can only reach this place by Peke Peke boat via Rio Negro (black river). ITINERARY:
Day 1: From Cuzco to Treehouse Inn (jungle exploring)
Early morning from 4:00 to 4:30AM, our transfer will pick you up directly from your hotel in Cusco, the journey for about 6 hours by car and short activities on the route looking for monkeys, bird watching (Cock of the Rock), our transfer will accompany you directly from Cusco – Paucartambo – Atalaya (boat port), our tour guide will be waiting for you in Atalaya. The next river adventure by motor boat.
First we drive 2 hours until Paucartambo, here we will have our breakfast. Then we drive four hours until we reach Atalaya (boat port). Here ends our trip by car, our tour guide will welcome you to the jungle and accommodating you in our river transport to a motorized boat. Here our adventure continues through the Madre de Dios River for two hours. Then we change to a smaller motor-boat, local name “Peke-Peke”. It gets its name after the sound of its engine
We will be sailing on the Palotoa river for one hour, along boat trip enjoying the river adventure, landscape, wildlife, until we get at the Treehouse INN.
The Treehouse INN will welcome you with a beautiful and unique landscape. Here we have cool drinks made from the local fruits, mineral water, warm drinks. After check-in, you will be escorted to your treehouse, where you can relax and unpack. All meals and beverages at Treehouse INN are made using fresh fruits, vegetables, as well as other local ingredients.

Day 2: Treehouse Inn – Parrot Clay Lick – Sky Bed Camp (Rio Negro)
At daybreak, we will walk 15 minutes to see the Parrots at the Clay Lick, it is a unique sight. Here we can see different parrots and pigmy macaws fly to the cliff to eat the clay. The clay here contains minerals that help these birds to flush toxins from their body.
After witnessing this activity, we’ll be back to Treehouse INN. Our team will be serving a traditional breakfast with memorable amazon view.
After breakfast we will pack our belongings. Then continue our best jungle expedition to Rio Negro, we diving into the deepest part of the rainforest of Manu National Park.
Peke-Peke Expedition:
We take a smaller motor-boat called “Peke-peke” due to the sound of the motor, this journey takes two-hour upriver cruise we follow the Palotoa River until we reach Rio Negro. Throughout the trip we will enjoy the beautiful landscape and with luck we might see a great variety of wildlife such as pygmy otter, King Fisher, Capybara, varieties of monkeys, sloth, macaws, tucan, heron, Tapir, Oropendula, giant Amazonian trees, maybe wildcats, etc.

Jungle Hiking:
After lunch we continue the expedition, we’ll have jungle hike for four hours on a flat trail that crosses the entire Rio Negro area, until reaching the magnificent at Sky Bed Camp. In this jungle hike we go looking for exotic wildlife such as Peccary, Sloth, Puma, Anteater, Armadillo, Deer, red howler monkey, spider monkey, exotic birds such as Macaw, Parrot, Toucan, Oropendula, Tanager, Cardinal, Fly Catcher, Nunbird, Jacamar, Hummingbird, Curassow, Tinamom, Antbird, Woodpecker, etc. Of course we always waiting for what surprises nature offers us.
In the afternoon we will reach Sky Bed Camp.
After dinner, we prepare for the night tour, this nocturnal experience offers us alligators, we will see the eyes reflecting the light of our torches we might be see the body as well, we’ll be also looking for insects, frogs, endemic snake (Bushmaster) which can get up to 3 meters long, rainbow boa, green boa, night monkey (Aotus miconax), etc. We always waiting for what surprises nature offers us.
Tonight, you will have a unique experience, staying overnight at Sky Bed Camp.
Day 3: Sky Bed Camp – Rio Negro (jungle exploring)
Today, after breakfast we have a jungle walk through the Rio Negro area, our expert jungle tour guide will be able to show you the flora and fauna and explain about wildlife. Also the tour guide takes with him his equipment such as telescope and binocular and he will be able to show you the animals and birds from far away, this gives you the opportunity to see such as scarlet macaw, yellow and blue macaw, Aras macaw, with luck we might see different types of monkeys, sloth on the tree canopy. We will then return to the Camp for lunch.
Fishing experience:
To bait the fish, together with our expert guide we will search for worms from under the ground and in palm tree. Then enjoy a moderate hike deep into the forest. Along the way, looking for animals, At the edges of the wild, we get the Rio Negro. Here where we do fishing, let’s try fishing for dogfish, sardines, dogfish, Sabalo, Ray fish, Paco, of course piranhas are the most difficult to catch since they are the smartest. You might see hoatzin (Pre-historic bird), cormorants, kingfisher, heron, Curasaw, with lucky river otters, caiman.
After dinner, the different sounds of the Amazon night will get us in the mood for our night walk: we will hear the sounds of the night monkeys – the only night primates in the world – the rat Kalinowski, Great owl, pigmy owl. With a little luck we will not only be able to hear them, but also observe them during our night walk. We search for tarantulas, insects, and snakes, etc. Of course wildlife is not promised, we always waiting for what surprises nature offers us.
Tonight we stay at Sky Bed Camp
DAY 4: Sky Bed Camp – River Tubing – Treehouse INN (Ecological Adventures)
After breakfast we will return hiking for four hours in the same trail until we reach the entrance point to Rio Negro.
River Tubing Adventure:
After 4 hours hike you can just relax. Then we have the river tubing, one of our highly entertaining adventures, it is about floating in the currents of the Palotoa river, driving on our own down the river for approximately 2 hours until we reach our Treehouse INN, this adventure is a unique sensation to feel the noise of the river through the jungle, as well as with luck we can see monkeys and birds along the river. We remind you not to forget to bring repellent, sunscreen, swimwear for this adventure, do not miss it.
For lunch our cook surprises us with typical jungle food at Treehouse Inn.
Botanical Introduction:
After lunch we will do a jungle walking tour for approximately three hours, we will learn about different species of plants and trees form Manu biosphere reserve. Most of these plants serve as natural medicines for local people. Our expert guide will explain about these plants.
As well, with luck we might see sloth, ant eater, capuchin monkey, squirrel monkey, eagle, howler monkey, puma, peccary, Amazonian birds, etc. We will return to the Treehouse INN for dinner.
Night Walk (herping activity):
After dinner we will have an opportunity for a night walk with our expert guide looking for snakes such as the false coral, real coral, bush master (shushupe), mantona boa, reaper snake, mouse-eater snake, green parrot snake, rainbow boa, etc. With luck we can also see other nocturnal creatures such as frogs, tarantula, night monkey, scorpion spider, nocturnal birds, sloth, fruit-eater bat, red deer, etc. Of course wildlife is not promised, we always waiting for what surprises nature offers us.
For the last night we will spend at Treehouse Inn.
Day 5: Treehouse INN to Cusco (hotel & airport)
After breakfast, form Manu Jungle to Cusco. We return to Cusco through the cloud forest and Paucartambo. We will be back in Cusco in the afternoon at approximately 6:00 p.m.
We drop off at your hotel, we can also drop you off directly at the airport in case you have a flight connection.
In this case we recommend taking your connecting flight after 8:00 p.m.
