It is a popular destination, primarily because it is home to different species of birds, animals and countless species of butterflies. Also, Manu National Park Peru is closer to Cusco. This allows travellers to embark on a trip for a few hours before or after visiting Machu Picchu.
Manu National Park is spread over 1,532,806 hectares (1.5 million ha). It houses tiers of vegetation that rises from 150 metres to 4200 metres above sea level. The whole stretch comprises of three zones – Manu Reserved Zone, Manu Biosphere Reserve and Manu Cultural Zone. Manu National Park is home to some 30 native indigenous communities. They maintain their age-old traditions and customs. On this four-day Manu Adventure, you will also get a closer encounter with some distinct species of flora and fauna inhabiting there.

Treehouse & Jungle Adventure 4 days / 3 nights
Treehouse Inn it is located on the border of Palotoa River in a family ecological reserve, run by Fidel and brothers, local people from Manu jungle. Offer comfortable suite rooms, queen beds, private bathroom, hot shower, drinks, WiFi, balcony, hammock, etc. This area has a large extension of hectares of Amazon rainforest with great biodiversity, it is a very special tropical jungle in Manu National Park with altitude 330m above sea level, with trails of 1,2,4 hours for hiking activities which offers the visitor the opportunity to see a good selection of birds, animals, plants, trees as well as endemic species, etc. Our varied 4 day jungle tours and unique accommodations treehouse really make Manu Wildlife Peru stand out amongst other tour operators.
ITINERARY:
Day 1: Cusco – Treehouse Inn (Manu exploring)
Early morning from 4:00 to 4:30AM, our transfer will pick you up directly from your hotel in Cusco, the journey for about 6 hours by car and short activities on the route looking for monkeys, bird watching (Cock of the Rock), our transfer will accompany you directly from Cusco – Paucartambo – Atalaya (boat port), our tour guide will be waiting for you in Atalaya. The next river adventure by motor boat.
First we drive 2 hours until Paucartambo, here we will have our breakfast. Then we drive four hours until we reach Atalaya (boat port). Here ends our trip by car, our tour guide will welcome you to the jungle and accommodating you in our river transport to a motorized boat. Here our adventure continues through the Madre de Dios River for two hours. Then we change to a smaller motor-boat, local name “Peke-Peke”. It gets its name after the sound of its engine
We will be sailing on the Palotoa river for one hour, along boat trip enjoying the river adventure, landscape, wildlife, until we get at the Treehouse INN.
The Treehouse INN will welcome you with a beautiful and unique landscape. Here we have cool drinks made from the local fruits, mineral water, warm drinks. After check-in, you will be escorted to your treehouse, where you can relax and unpack. All meals and beverages at Treehouse INN are made using fresh fruits, vegetables, as well as other local ingredients.
After dinner we offer optional night walk, we spent the night at Treehouse Inn.
Day 2: Treehouse jungle adventure – Mountain Tour (view point)
After breakfast we will have a hike through the jungle for four hours. On this four hour walking we visit a mountain with a beautiful high view point. It offers a panoramic view of the Amazon Basin, from the top of this mountain you can see a beautiful jungle landscape, along the path with luck we might see some animals like, Deer, Peccary, Sloth, Monkeys. Also, you will be able to see birds like Macaw, Parrot, Toucans, Eagle and more. We will then return to the Treehouse INN for lunch.
Fishing experience:
To bait the fish, together with our expert guide we will search for worms from under the ground. Then enjoy a moderate hike deep into the forest. Along the way, looking for animals, At the edges of the wild, we get the Piranha Lake. Here where we do fishing, let’s try fishing for Dogfish, Sardines, Pacos, of course piranhas are the most difficult to catch since they are the smartest. You might see hoatzin (Pre-historic bird), cormorants, kingfishers, herons, with lucky river otters, white caiman.
Night walk (herping activity):
after dinner we will have an opportunity for a night walk with our expert guide looking for snakes such as the false coral, real coral, bush master (shushupe), mantona boa, reaper snake, mouse-eater snake, green parrot snake, rainbow boa, etc. With luck we can find other nocturnal creatures such as frogs, tarantula, night monkey, scorpion spider, nocturnal birds, sloth, fruit-eater bat, red deer, etc. Of course wildlife is not promised, we always waiting for what surprises nature offers us.
We spent the night at Treehouse Inn.
Day 3: Treehouse Inn – Parrot Clay Lick (Manu jungle tours)
At daybreak, we will walk 15 minutes to see the Parrots at the Clay Lick, it is a unique sight. Here we can see different parrots and pigmy macaws fly to the cliff to eat the clay. The clay here contains minerals that help these birds to flush toxins from their body.
After witnessing this activity, we’ll be back to Treehouse INN. Our team will be serving a traditional breakfast with memorable amazon view.
After breakfast we will have a hike through the jungle for three hours. On this three hours tour, with luck we might see some animals like, Tapir, Peccary, Sloth, Monkey. Also, you will be able to see birds like Macaw, Parrot, Toucans, Eagle and more. We will then return to the Treehouse INN for lunch.
River Tubing Adventure:
after lunch we have the river tubing one of our highly entertaining adventures, it is about floating in the currents of the Palotoa river, driving on our own down the river for approximately one hour until we reach our Treehouse INN, this adventure is a unique sensation to feel the noise of the river through the jungle, as well as with luck we can see monkeys and birds along the river. We remind you not to forget to bring repellent, sunscreen, swimwear for this adventure, do not miss it.
Botanical Introduction:
After tubing we will do a jungle walking tour for approximately two hours, we will learn about different species of plants and trees. Most of these plants serve as natural medicines for local people. Our expert guide will explain about these plants. With luck we maybe find more wildlife.
After dinner, we will go on a night safari. On this tour we will looking for Kalinowski rats and pygmy owls. We will also try to spot tarantulas, spiders, corals, frogs, caiman, etc. Of course wildlife is not promised, we always waiting for what surprises nature offers us.
After the tour, we will be returning to our Treehouse INN.
Day 4: Treehouse Inn – Cusco (hotel or airport)
After breakfast, form Manu Jungle to Cusco. We return to Cusco through the cloud forest and Paucartambo. We will be back in Cusco in the afternoon at approximately 6:00 p.m.
We drop off at your hotel, we can also drop you off directly at the airport in case you have a flight connection.
In this case we recommend taking your connecting flight after 8:00 p.m.
